Love in the Time of COVID-19

Of all the people I know, Emily Jacobssen is among the most considerate and attentive. Every wedding anniversary, birthday, and Mother’s Day – without fail – waiting inside my mailbox is an envelope with her immaculate handwriting across it, containing an adorable card of the upmost quality. In everything she does, Emily does so selflessly. So, of course, all her friends and family were thrilled when Jon Morgan proposed to her. We can’t wait to celebrate her special day with the same enthusiasm that she shows us consistently.

I was beyond thrilled when she asked me to be a bridesmaid, which made this engagement session (which I photographed alongside the talented Caitlin Ryan) even more memorable. At the time of this photoshoot, Knoxville, Tenn. was starting to shut down due to coronavirus. Taking pictures from six feet away is challenging, but Emily and Jon make it look easy.

A social-distancing photoshoot hasn’t been the only challenge this couple has faced amid COVID-19: they’ve had to postpone their wedding until next year. But through it all, Jon and Emily have bolstered one another through these uncertain times. Undoubtedly, when their wedding day finally arrives, it will be exquisite, thoughtful, and gracious – just like Emily and Jon.
